Broken Music - Milan Knížák
Anti music at its best. Milan was a member of the fluxus movement, Ligeti being one of my favourites.
Excellent record

Elvis Costello and the Imposters- The Boy Named If

A nice effort that has several memorable tracks. "Farewell OK" is a rocker and sounds like it could have been from 1979. This is what makes Elvis frustrating!

That song is 8/10 and album a solid 6.75/10

No Trend - Teenage Love
Plodding bass work by Bob Strasser and delicate yet crunchy guitar work. Great "anti-punk" "noise rock" inspired by PIL and Flipper. Excellent storytelling in the lyrics.

Quote:
After drinking two beers, he was pretending to be "drunk."
While the local popular radio station
played the newest pre-designated, youth-oriented "top-forty hit,"
he was decapitated in an explosion of flames and glass fragments.

A couple new releases...

Franz Ferdinand - Curious/No You Girls: Both tracks are exactly what you would expect, dancey, smart and infectious.
7/10

Buzzard, Buzzard, Buzzard - A Passionate Life: A seven song release coming in at 26 minutes. Same road they've been on but it's a nice road. Early faves are Demolition Man and A Passionate Life. 7/10

"I put a spell on you" by Diamanda Galas. 8/10
This Screamin’ Jay Hawkins cover is just hypnotic and powerful, this woman has a great voice and a lot of charisma on stage.

I listened and I thought it was interesting enough to check out some other things by her on Spotify plus look at her Wikipedia page.

I'm not sure how I missed this fascinating person who has been involved with activism, films, painting, performance arts not to mention her intoxicating music.

Thanks for sharing. Well done!

Glad you liked it Buckeye Randy!
She's definitely a "one-of-a-kind" artist, she even collaborated with greek black metal band Rotting Christ. Strange mix, but none of her fans were surprised actually...

Have you listened to the latest? (band camp says released October 29, 2021) It is only two tracks but it appears to be 32 minutes of witchy terror! I listened a bit but to be honest, this music should not be played during daylight hours. I do plan to listen tonight and see if I can conjure up some things I thought were buried.

Witchy Terror piques your curiosity? You really are the 'Toughest Girl In Town'!

See PM for more on Diamanda Galas.

ha ha! I'm very easily scared though :)
But it's also true that music cannot really scare me, I may feel a bit unsettled at times, but it never gets worse than that. I've heard so many bizarre things...

Brand spanking new.

Misfits & Freaks - The Courettes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1xh2ut9h5w

I 'discovered' this band last year and one of their songs snuck into my 2021 Top Ten.

This is more of the same...it's like Ronnie Spector and David Johansen had a daughter and she's fronting a kick ass 60's retro band that knows the future is punk music.

The Courettes have apparently modified their name to 'The Fabulous Courettes' which I think is terrific, in fact it's fabulous. This song is one of two new ones, I hope another album is around the corner.

Solid 8/10

Buzzcocks - Senses Out Of Control: I think this is the first studio work since Pete Shelley died. Regardless, good song. 7/10

Hot Water Music - Killing Time: Pretty aggressive in a shouty metal/punky way and I like. 7/10

Pergolesi - "Stabat Mater": a beautiful piece of baroque music for a change, and it's just perfect for a quiet Sunday evening.
8.5/10
