Have to admit I have never heard of Beck - went on you tube and found a top 10 of Beck songs - complete dross in my opinion.
Never been to Bournemouth - so maybe a first time for me.

The downside is it probably won't be as long a set for Sparks. The upside is you can leave earlier. Bournemouth is a nice resort. It is Whitsun Bank Holiday Monday, so you could make a weekend of it. I am actually away on a Cruise for the other UK dates and arrive back to Southampton (33 miles away from Bournemouth) on the 27th May so I am going.

Lucky Bournemouth, wish I was going.

I've never heard any of Beck's music either - I'd be like one of the characters in "Glue" by Irvine Welsh - the guy shows his ignorance by putting on "Hi Ho Silver Lining" when his friends ask to hear some Beck...

I have a Beck CD in my collection called Loser. Beck was on TOTPs back in the 90s performing the song Loser with a backing band of men aged about 70 to 80 of age.

Well - listened to all 3 links (thanks miss sparks and APOLLO74) but got to say "Jeff" would still be my comfort zone... To those who gave up, the chorus of "Loser" (to me) was better than the verses. The Sparks rendition of "Why Did You Make Me Care" is lovely though - I was totally "unaware" that this existed, and Russell sings it beautifully, as one would expect!

Dug his Ode-lay album in the mid 90s. Devil's Haircut and Where It's At were fun songs.

Some individual - one more talented than me - should make a mash-up of Hippopotamus and Devil's Haircut ... that could really work!

The videos for some of the above-mentioned Beck songs ("Loser," "Devil's Haircut," "Where It's At") are available on YouTube. They have a droll humor that reminds me of some of the Sparks album covers.

Some things never seem to change-Beck or his people have invited Sparks to play in front of a potential large crowd and some Sparks fans kick off about Beck.Whether you like him or his music or not does not matter. What matters is Sparks have a chance to convert more people to their fabulous stage presence and a great rocking band and possibly sell a few albums to boot.Thank you Beck from this fan.

Only know Beck from an episode of Futurama. Didn't rate him. This could be the most controversial support date since the boys opened for Rick Springfield (American pop-rock teen idol to you younger folks) in 1983!

Who is "kicking off"? I have already got my tickets. I couldn't stand Goldfrapp in Glasgow so I walked after three numbers (I think it was three, they all sounded the same) didn't stop me enjoying Sparks and I will have that option of leaving early again, after enjoying Sparks. My choice. You are right it gives me the chance to see them in the UK as I am away for the other gigs, before I go to Cologne and Utrecht, so I am grateful for that. Doesn't mean I have to like Beck and his music though.

More than one are complaining.I didn't say Billy Stevens kicked off? I am not and did not say that people had to like Beck or his music. On the contrary i said whether you like him his music or not does not matter.I also stated that Sparks have a chance to convert more people to their music. You are already a fan so no need to convert you. Hope you love the gig though.
