Looking at the lyrics, I am not too sure about this. However I have had to vote 'no' as I don't think Ron and Russell would write anything so sordid - would they?? _________________ Carol wears Cacheral..... |

Consider a young boarding school pupil...in a same sex environment...being uncomfortable in his own skin...because of his burgeoning sexuality..and his humble (obviously not as well heeled as some of his peers)origins...staying with your own kind could indicate snobbihness at school or homophobia..the song also seems to point to a sex change..."dancing with HER friends" .
This is all only from my fevered brow...and not essentially anything the author had intended...but I reckon its a bit more likely than the cow theory ...lol |

It could on the other hand, be both !
and the intentional ambiguity reveals the subtle genius of yet another Mael penned song :-) |

The Whole of the WOOFER Album could of well
be Written in a Amsterdam "Brown Cafe" as its
got that Whoaaaa Whats going on here Feel about
it... The type of cover u pick up in Smokey 2nd hand
Record Shop Basements along with the Other Underground
rare finds ... To my mind Ron Doesnt look like the type
of Guy who would travel to Dundee and Surrounds taking
pictures of there Livestock... Sop I guess Alex is fairly
Close as I cannt be bothered typing out my theory lol |

I can't believe it's about screwing a cow
My ideal of Ron can not be damaged by this kind of insinuation
It sounds far too pervy to me
Sorry for the spelling mistakes if any I've had a bottle of wine |

Regardless of whether it is or isn`t, I still think it`s feasible that it could be, and wouldn`t surprise me in the slightest as a lot of their lyrics have been far ahead of their time, and not just run of the mill words that happen to fit the music to keep the radio dj`s and the general public happy.
I`m just saying they could be, and I don`t think they would be afraid of writing about things that would scare most other bands away due to fear of alienating anyone....particularly all those years ago....
They seem far too intelligent & independent for that :-)
(I can see this stirring up a right hornets nest ...lol) |

why shouldn't Ron have a dark side? a cow-loving dark side? don't YOU?
have a dark side i mean.
plus I know the great MARK PRINDLE agrees with me. |

Prindle is funny. I agree with some of his reviews ( Sparks but also, say, most of The Damned's reviews, to name but a few ). I regret there are ( until now, that is ) large gaps in his artist's list : Todd Rundgren, Laura Nyro, The Tubes or Jason Falkner, all of them favorites of mine. |

Here's how I see it:
A bunch of kids at school are looking out the window onto a field where a cow is having her way with a bull. They thus "see private parts in public school" -- "No one objects to angus desire" because there's nothing they can do about it.
Other than that it's vague as to whether the schoolboy attempted something later. "Why don't you stay with your own kind." |

The lyrics ARE a little bit bovine-erotic, (is there such an expression?) and I will never be able to look at a slice of beef in quite the same way, moooo! |

The whole question is so dumb! Personally I think says a great deal about Ron's insecurity over sex and his sexuality. Let's face it, WHEN have we heard of Ron havinga girlfriend???? Nuff sed. |
