I'm sorry, but I can't vote...to me Ron and Russell are two sides of the same coin....a musical tandem,if you will..both seats and sets of pedals need to be occupied for it to work efficiently and it doesn't really matter who is steering as the destination is ultimately the same for both riders. |

Outerspace!!!!!
The devil himself wouldn't ask such a question.
They are both grand in so many ways.
It's as clear as crystal - the score equally. |

I do like this question...
both of them are great in their own way...
I do like Rons intellectual touch, looks and his great
songwriting ...
I do like Russell`s singing/voice... that is now better than ever, the way he dresses is pretty cool... forever young |

I think Ron would have turned into an [even] better and probably more successful songwriter if he'd had to go it alone without Russell
Also I think Russell's delivery although always very exact sometimes detracts from the meaning of the songs.
Just my opinion!!!! |

Ron might have been a more successful songwriter on commercial grounds, but it would be because without Russell he'd have had to adapt his melodies to be more easily sung* and probably his whole artistic vision to something more easily palatable (and less Sparks.) Russell's written a few songs on his own, enough to show that he brings ideas and not only that astounding voice but it seems to me they bring out the best in each other - keep in mind they've written many as a team - and that neither would have become as wonderful as they are now without the other.
*Would more bands attempt to cover Sparks if not for the vocal difficulty level, and would this be a good or bad thing? Possible future discussion questions... |
